BJP MP Slams Akhilesh Yadav’s Warning on Vote Theft, Says India Stays Strong Under Modi

In Vadodara, Gujarat, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma fired back at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s recent comments on vote theft and potential unrest. Yadav had warned the Election Commission of India that tampering with votes could spark street protests, similar to the youth-led agitation in Nepal. Sharma called out Yadav, saying some people seem to crave violence in the country.

Speaking to reporters on September 14, Sharma stressed that India’s citizens, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are alert and united against troublemakers. "It’s shocking to see folks wishing for chaos in our peaceful nation," he said. "Our people are watchful, and with Modiji leading, no one can stir up unrest."

Sharma pointed to past events to back his point. He recalled how opposition forces allegedly tried to fuel violence during the farmers’ protests, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) demonstrations, the COVID-19 pandemic, demonetisation, and even the recent Waqf amendment debates. "They wanted to mislead our farmers, but everyone saw Modiji’s firm steps to support them through better tariffs," Sharma added. "Farmers stayed focused and didn’t fall for the tricks. Under Modi, lawlessness has no chance in India."

This isn’t the first time an opposition figure has raised alarms about Nepal-style protests hitting India. Just days earlier, on September 10, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut echoed similar fears. He referenced Nepal’s anti-corruption youth movement against dictatorship and nepotism, warning it could spread here. Raut claimed India’s calm stems from Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent principles, and even accused the Modi government of relying on Gandhi’s legacy to stay afloat.

Yadav’s press conference earlier highlighted his concerns over election integrity. He urged the Election Commission to prevent any vote theft, saying, "It’s their duty to ensure not a single vote goes missing. When they couldn’t win fairly, they resorted to threats. If vote theft happens, people might hit the streets, just like in our neighbor’s recent unrest."

As political tensions rise ahead of key elections, these exchanges spotlight ongoing debates on democracy, vote security, and public trust in India’s institutions. With Modi’s leadership at the center, BJP leaders like Sharma remain confident that the nation will stay stable and united.
