Patna, Jan 20 (LatestNewsX) Union Minister and senior Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, on Tuesday, made several significant statements on Bihar politics, internal party matters, and the Union government’s plans to boost India’s seafood exports.
Speaking to reporters in Lakhisarai, Lalan Singh dismissed speculation about the return of former Union Minister RCP Singh to the JD-U.
He said that there was no place in the party for those who weakened the organisation.
“The strength of the JD-U comes from its committed party workers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the party has continuously grown stronger,” he added.
Highlighting departmental initiatives, Lalan Singh announced that the Union government will organise a high-level roundtable conference on January 21, 2026, involving Ambassadors and High Commissioners from more than 80 countries.
The conference will be chaired by Lalan Singh himself.
“The objective is to expand India’s seafood exports and establish new international market linkages,” he said, noting that India is currently the world’s second-largest aquaculture producer.
After meeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Lalan Singh said, “We were in the region for three days. After returning today, I informed Nitish Kumar that we are leaving for Delhi tonight, as there is a Cabinet meeting tomorrow. It is his magnanimity that he came to meet us today. Our relationship spans 38 years.”
Asked about Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics, the Union Minister said that the decision rests solely with the Bihar Chief Minister.
Lalan Singh also congratulated Nitin Nabin on being appointed the BJP President, saying that he possesses strong leadership qualities and would take the party forward.
Commenting on the Bihar Assembly election results, he said that the people of Bihar have given a strong mandate to the NDA based on development.
Emphasising Bihar’s role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Developed India 2047’ vision, he added that the state is now in a position to lead from the front.
“Bihar is no longer lagging behind. It has the capacity to play a decisive role in building a developed India,” Lalan Singh added.
