Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his first visit to Assam after the successful Operation Sindoor by praising the mission and dedicating its triumph to Maa Kamakhya and Lord Krishna. Speaking at a lively public rally in Darrang district on Sunday, he shared how the operation’s victory came with the blessings of the revered goddess.
“Yesterday marked my first trip back to Assam post-Operation Sindoor, and it was a massive hit thanks to Maa Kamakhya’s grace,” PM Modi said. “Today, stepping onto this sacred land feels like a truly divine moment.” His words lit up the crowd, blending national pride with spiritual vibes.
The timing couldn’t be better, as the event coincided with Janmashtami celebrations in Darrang. PM Modi tied it back to his recent Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, where he spotlighted Lord Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra as a symbol for India’s future national security. “It’s like the cherry on top that we’re marking Janmashtami here today,” he added. “From the Red Fort, I spoke of Chakradhari Mohan and Shri Krishna, and I introduced the bold idea of the Sudarshan Chakra in our security plans.”
Darrang, he noted, stands as the heart of Assam’s cultural identity—a place buzzing with inspiration and grit. “I’m lucky to connect with people from this powerhouse of courage,” the Prime Minister remarked.
Flashback to his Red Fort address: PM Modi unveiled the ambitious Sudarshan Chakra Mission to supercharge India’s national security by 2035. Drawing from Lord Krishna’s iconic weapon, the plan focuses on building a homegrown defense shield. “Over the next decade, we’ll expand, strengthen, and upgrade our security setup,” he had said. “Inspired by Shri Krishna, we’re rolling out the Sudarshan Chakra Mission—everything researched, developed, and made in India, tapping our young talent. This powerhouse will not just block terrorist threats but hit back hard.”
The mission eyes an Iron Dome-style system to protect key spots, including civilian zones, making India safer from cross-border dangers.
Before the rally, PM Modi got hands-on with development projects in Darrang. He laid the foundation stone for the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, along with a GNM School and B.Sc. Nursing College to boost healthcare training in Assam. He also greenlit the Guwahati Ring Road Project, set to ease traffic jams, speed up urban mobility, and link up the capital better. Plus, the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River will connect communities, spark economic growth, and open new doors for locals in the region.
