Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t hold back during his rally in Darrang, Assam, on Sunday. He fired sharp criticisms at the Congress party, claiming they sided with the Pakistani Army during Operation Sindoor instead of supporting India’s brave soldiers.
Speaking to a huge crowd, Modi said Congress’s politics often aligns with anti-India ideas. “When Congress was in power, terrorism bled the nation, but they stayed silent. They even backed Pakistan’s lies over our army’s truth,” he pointed out. Modi warned people to stay alert, accusing Congress of spreading Pakistan’s false narratives and prioritizing vote banks over national security.
He went further, slamming Congress for protecting infiltrators and anti-national elements. “Congress promotes infiltration and wants these outsiders to shape India’s future. They put their vote banks first, not the country’s interests,” Modi stated firmly.
Modi also hit out at Congress for disrespecting Assam’s iconic singer Bhupen Hazarika, whom he fondly called Bhupen Da. “How can they insult someone who gave his life to India’s soul through music and art? Congress thinks the ‘Kamdaar’ (workers) can’t even cry in front of the ‘Namdaar’ (privileged). We must question this,” he urged, highlighting how his double-engine government focuses on preserving Assam’s rich cultural heritage while driving fast development.
On a positive note, Modi kicked off major projects worth over Rs 18,530 crore to boost Assam’s growth. In Darrang, he laid the foundation for the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, a GNM School, and a B.Sc. Nursing College to improve healthcare and medical education. He also started work on the Guwahati Ring Road Project, which will ease traffic and connect the capital better, and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River to link communities and spark economic progress.
Later in Golaghat’s Numaligarh, Modi inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). This green energy initiative will cut reliance on fossil fuels and promote sustainable development. He also laid the foundation for a new Polypropylene Plant at NRL, which will strengthen Assam’s petrochemical industry, create jobs, and uplift local economies.
These steps show Modi’s commitment to Assam’s infrastructure and industrial growth, making the state a key player in India’s progress.
