JP Nadda chairs meeting on dengue preparedness in Delhi-NCR region

Dengue Under Control in Delhi-NCR: Union Minister JP Nadda Reviews Preparedness

New Delhi: Union Health Minister JP Nadda met with officials from Delhi and nearby states on Monday to check dengue readiness in the Delhi-NCR region. The good news? Dengue cases remain well under control, and everyone is gearing up to keep it that way.

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, who joined the meeting, gave a reassuring update to reporters. "People of Delhi, don’t worry—dengue is fully under control right now," he said. He added that if cases start rising, the Delhi government has a solid plan in place. "We’re doing fogging through the municipality and taking every step needed to fight dengue," Singh explained.

Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh echoed the positive vibe. He highlighted how municipal teams in Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad are working hard on dengue prevention. "The meeting focused on public awareness," Singh noted. "We urged councillors, MLAs, and local leaders to spread the word about our preparations. Fogging happens regularly, hospitals are ready, and everything is on track."

From Ghaziabad, Mayor Sunita Dayal Aggarwal shared that dengue cases there are "very low and almost negligible." She pointed out a big drop in infections and no signs of a surge. "Awareness is key here," she said. The meeting covered practical tips like preventing water buildup in pots and coolers to stop mosquitoes from breeding.

Aggarwal stressed community efforts: "We need to teach kids in schools, put up posters, and talk to teachers. This builds habits for the future." In Ghaziabad, they fog year-round, hand out pamphlets to homes, and even use songs and vehicle announcements to educate people on dengue prevention.

Overall, the meeting emphasized staying vigilant against dengue and chikungunya. With fogging drives, hospital readiness, and awareness campaigns in full swing, Delhi-NCR seems prepared to tackle any mosquito-borne threats this season.
