BMW accident case: Delhi Police questions accused Gaganpreet’s husband Parikshit Kakkar

Delhi BMW Accident: Husband of Accused Driver Questioned by Police

In the ongoing probe into the tragic Delhi BMW accident, police grilled Parikshit Kakkar, husband of the accused driver Gaganpreet Kaur, at a local chowki. He showed up voluntarily to help with the investigation into the fatal crash that claimed a senior government official’s life.

Parikshit seemed puzzled about the whole incident. He told Delhi Police that Gaganpreet mentioned she was rushing the victims to the hospital. "My wife said she was taking them along. I informed my father-in-law that they needed treatment and were on the way. After that, I took a separate taxi to the hospital," he explained. Police now plan to cross-check his story with other evidence to piece together what really happened.

For context, Gaganpreet Kaur got arrested after her BMW slammed into a motorcycle near Delhi Cantonment metro station on Sunday. The bike carried Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, and his wife Sandeep Kaur. Navjot died on the spot, while Sandeep suffered serious injuries. Gaganpreet faces serious charges like culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and tampering with evidence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita.

Gaganpreet told cops she panicked after the Delhi BMW crash and drove the injured couple about 20 km to GTB Nagar hospital. She said her own kids had been treated there during the COVID-19 days, which is why she chose it over closer spots. But Navjot’s family is furious, questioning why she didn’t head to nearby hospitals like RR or RML instead.

The investigation into the BMW accident case picked up pace earlier today. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached Delhi Cantt Police Station to examine the seized luxury car. FSL expert Gaurav Ostwal shared with , "We’re inspecting the vehicle step by step as per our protocols. We’ll analyze all the dent and scratch marks thoroughly. We can’t comment until the full report is ready."

Meanwhile, the pain continues for Navjot Singh’s loved ones. The 52-year-old finance ministry official’s body underwent last rites on Tuesday. He was riding pillion with his wife when the BMW hit their two-wheeler on September 14.

Gaganpreet, now in two days’ judicial custody, has filed a bail application. Her lawyer argues the Delhi BMW accident was a pure mishap with no intent. They point out she’s a mom to two young daughters, has a clean record, and even got a head injury in the crash. The plea under Section 480 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita says she doesn’t need custodial questioning—she’s cooperated fully, has strong community ties, and won’t flee or mess with evidence.

On Monday, Duty Judicial Magistrate Akanksha Singh sent her to judicial custody after police brought her to the judge’s residence. The court has scheduled a hearing on the bail plea for September 17 and ordered jail officials to provide her proper medical treatment.

As the Delhi BMW accident case unfolds, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to get to the truth behind this heartbreaking incident.
