Delhi Police Busts Car Theft Ring, Nabs Key Suspect in Jodhpur
In a big win for law enforcement, the Delhi Police Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) caught a notorious car thief in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. Officials shared the exciting details on Wednesday, September 17, highlighting how sharp detective work led to cracking multiple vehicle theft cases.
It all started with some clever sleuthing. The police team dug into CCTV footage from crime spots and escape routes to track down the culprits. They used a handy Smart Monitoring Tool to pinpoint the suspects. In one bold theft, a Hyundai Creta vanished from Delhi’s Bindapur area. The footage showed the stolen car heading to a toll plaza on NH-8 highway.
Digging deeper, investigators found out the thieves tricked the system by using a Fastag from a Maruti Swift to zip through without raising alarms. This clue led straight to the main suspect—a Jodhpur local. The AATS team rushed to Rajasthan, searched the area, and cornered the man as he tried to bolt.
The suspect turned out to be Pappu Nayak, a 33-year-old from Civil Airport Road in Pabu Nagar, Jodhpur. Once in custody, Nayak spilled the beans. He confessed to working as a driver who got lured into crime by a guy named Sadik, promising quick cash. Turns out, Sadik runs a shady syndicate that steals cars and flips them for profit.
Thanks to Nayak’s tips, police recovered three stolen vehicles, closing three major car theft cases in one go. They seized a Toyota Fortuner, two Hyundai Creta cars, Rs 3.5 lakh in cash (advance payment for a stolen ride), a mobile phone, and a Fastag. The recoveries happened in Jodhpur and nearby Barmer areas.
The hunt continues for the syndicate boss, Sadik, as Delhi Police vows to dismantle the entire car theft network. This operation shows how tech and teamwork are cracking down on vehicle theft in India, bringing relief to car owners everywhere. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing chase!
