Assam Governor Honors Six Divyangjan with Vishwakarma Samman on PM Modi’s Birthday
In a heartwarming event in Guwahati, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya celebrated Vishwakarma Jayanti by honoring six inspiring divyangjan with the prestigious Governor Assam Vishwakarma Samman. The ceremony took place at the Brahmaputra Wing of Raj Bhavan, spotlighting their incredible achievements and pushing for a more inclusive society.
Governor Acharya kicked off the event with warm congratulations for the awardees. He also shared heartfelt birthday wishes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose birthday falls on this special day. "We shouldn’t dwell on what someone lacks," the Governor said. "Instead, let’s celebrate the amazing abilities they bring to the table." He pointed out how this mindset led to changing the term "Viklang" to "Divyangjan," helping shift how society views people with disabilities.
These six divyangjan from different parts of Assam shone in fields like art, education, science, social work, sports, and business. They show true grit and innovation, proving that barriers can’t stop real talent.

The Governor urged everyone to build a stronger India. "Let’s create a Bharat where no one gets left behind, no one feels neglected, and every person gains respect for their contributions, not their challenges," he added.
