BSF and Punjab Police Bust Major Heroin Smuggling Ring Near Amritsar Border
In a big win against drug smuggling in Punjab, the Border Security Force (BSF) teamed up with the Punjab Police Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) to catch a key narco-smuggler near Beharwal village in Amritsar. This happened on Wednesday, and the bust uncovered a massive haul of narcotics.
The joint team acted on solid intelligence and stopped a suspicious motorcycle. They grabbed the rider, who turned out to be a local from Beharwal village. A search revealed a huge bag with 23 packets of suspected heroin weighing 25.9 kilograms. They also found a pistol with two magazines, a mobile phone, and the motorcycle itself. Officials believe the drugs came across the border via drone drop.
The BSF handed over the smuggler, the recovered items, and the contraband to the ANTF Amritsar for deeper investigation and legal steps. This operation shows how vigilant border forces are tackling the rising threat of cross-border drug trafficking in Punjab.
More BSF Successes: Four Arrests and Heroin Drone Recovery Along Punjab Border
The action didn’t stop there. In three separate operations along the Punjab border, BSF troops nabbed four people and seized a pistol, drug money, and even a drone loaded with heroin. These busts highlight the ongoing battle against narcotics smuggling near the India-Pakistan border.
On Sunday night in Ferozepur district, BSF set up an ambush between Palla Megha and Kilche villages. They caught one suspect from Kamlewala village carrying a pistol with three live rounds, 45 grams of narcotics, ₹19,480 in cash, a mobile phone, and a bike. All items point to his role in local drug peddling.
Over in Amritsar, BSF tracked a drone and arrested three suspects near Mode village. The team is now questioning them to uncover their plans and any bigger networks involved in drone-based smuggling.
Then, early Monday morning, BSF personnel at the Amritsar border found a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone in a field near Nesta village. It carried a 576-gram packet of heroin—clear proof of how smugglers use tech to sneak drugs into Punjab.
Earlier Wins Against Cross-Border Narcotics in Punjab
This isn’t new for the BSF. Earlier this month, they foiled several smuggling attempts in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur districts. Troops arrested three smugglers and recovered heroin along with another drone.
One standout catch was near Kalsian village in Tarn Taran, where BSF nabbed a suspect with 560 grams of heroin. These quick actions are disrupting the narco-terror networks trying to flood Punjab with drugs.
With Punjab facing a growing narcotics crisis, these BSF operations bring hope and show the force’s commitment to securing the border and protecting communities from heroin smuggling. Stay tuned for updates on the investigations.
