Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Slams Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Vote Theft’ Claims, Calls It ‘Brain Theft’
Mumbai, September 19: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis didn’t hold back on Friday when he fired shots at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Fadnavis mocked Gandhi’s recent allegations of "vote theft" in elections, saying it’s not about stolen votes but a case of "brain theft" for the Congress MP.
Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis quipped, "This isn’t about vote chori, but Rahul Gandhi ji is suffering from brain theft." He went further, accusing Gandhi of acting like an "urban Maoist" by urging India’s Gen-Z youth to topple a constitutional government. Fadnavis added, "He showed signs of being an urban Maoist when he said Gen-Z should topple a constitutional government."
These sharp words came right after Rahul Gandhi’s strong statement on Thursday. Gandhi highlighted the role of young Indians, especially Gen-Z, in safeguarding the Constitution and democracy. He vowed to stand by them in their battle against what he calls "vote theft" in Indian elections.
On X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi shared a photo and posted: "The Youth of the Country, The Students of the Country, The Gen Z of the Country will save the Constitution, protect democracy, and stop vote theft. I always stand with them. Jai Hind!"
Gandhi’s comments stem from fresh claims of voter fraud in Karnataka’s Aland constituency ahead of the 2023 assembly polls. At a press conference, he alleged that officials tried to delete over 6,000 voters’ names from the list. "In Aland, Karnataka, 6,018 votes—somebody tried to delete these votes. We don’t know the total number deleted in the 2023 elections, but someone got caught. Most crimes get caught by coincidence. A Booth Level Officer noticed her uncle’s vote had been deleted," Gandhi explained.
As the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Gandhi didn’t stop there. He accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of shielding "vote chors" (vote thieves) and knowing all about the fraud in adding fake voters or deleting real ones. "I have 10% proof that CEC Gyanesh Kumar is protecting vote chors," he claimed.
The exchange highlights the ongoing political tussle over election integrity in India, with both sides trading barbs on vote theft allegations and democracy’s future. As debates heat up, eyes are on how these claims play out in the coming days.
