‘Namo Yuva Run’: Tejasvi Surya, Milind Soman push for drug-free, fit India

Thousands of young people laced up their sneakers and took to the streets of Mumbai on Sunday for the ‘Namo Yuva Run,’ a vibrant nationwide marathon pushing for youth fitness and a drug-free India. BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who heads the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), hailed the event as a “powerful step” toward building a healthier, ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat.’

The run kicked off as part of the BJP’s Seva Pakhwada, a special drive celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17. Organized by the BJYM across the country, the initiative spotlights fitness for young people while raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Events like this popped up at 75 locations nationwide, drawing massive crowds.

In Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Tejasvi Surya, and other top BJP leaders flagged off the run, setting an energetic tone. Adding star power was actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman, the event’s brand ambassador, who joined in to motivate participants and spread the word on staying active.

Tejasvi Surya shared his excitement with reporters at the scene. “We’re marking PM Modi’s 75th birthday through Seva Pakhwada, and as part of our pledge for a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat,’ we’ve set up these big runs at 75 spots across India,” he said. “More than 10,000 youth showed up here in Mumbai today. I’m so thankful to Milind Soman for stepping up as ambassador and inspiring everyone to get fit.”

Milind Soman echoed the positivity, calling the ‘Namo Yuva Run’ a smart way to promote health and resolve. “This is a fantastic initiative,” he told reporters. “I always get excited about runs like this, and it’s extra special tying it to our Prime Minister’s birthday. Over 10 lakh people are jumping in across the nation today.” He tied it back to bigger goals, adding, “The PM’s vision—and ours—is to build a Fit India, a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat,’ and push toward an Atmanirbhar Bharat. With real effort, we’ll make it happen.”

The ‘Namo Yuva Run’ mixed exercise with a strong social message, turning into a coast-to-coast celebration that fired up young Indians for a stronger, drug-free future.
