Members of the Yadav community took to the streets in Gurugram, Haryana, on September 21, blocking roads to protest the title of Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film 120 Bahadur. The movie dives into the intense 1962 Indo-China war, focusing on the heroic Battle of Rezang La, but the group argues the title overlooks their community’s key role in the fight.

Protesters demand a title change to 120 Veer Ahir, shining a light on the Yadav soldiers’ sacrifices. They also want the film to honor their martyrs with proper credits and a tribute at the end. Mahendra Singh Patwari, a member of the Ahir Regiment, told , "We’re asking to rename 120 Bahadur to 120 Veer Ahir. Name our martyrs in the movie and end with a tribute—or this protest grows bigger on October 26."

Another demonstrator, Tarun, accused the film of downplaying Yadav history. Speaking to , he said, "We’ve gathered today to oppose 120 Bahadur. Our ancestors gave everything for the country, but this movie spotlights others. Change the title to 120 Veer Ahir, or we’ll boycott it. The film risks erasing Yadav contributions, especially in southern India where people might not know our story."

Farhan Akhtar announced 120 Bahadur in September 2024, revealing his role as Major Shaitan Singh, based on the real-life leader of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment. The story pays tribute to the 120 Indian soldiers who stood firm against around 3,000 Chinese troops at Rezang La, refusing to retreat despite the odds.

The teaser, dropped last month, captures the raw tension of the 1962 war. It kicks off with building India-China conflict, Farhan’s character vowing, "Hum piche nahi hatenge" (We won’t step back). A powerful line echoes the soldiers’ spirit: "Yeh wardi sirf himmat nahi, balidan bhi mangti hai" (This uniform demands not just courage, but sacrifice too). Filmed in Ladakh, Rajasthan, and Mumbai, the movie recreates the harsh frozen battlefields and quiet moments of bravery.

Raashii Khanna joins in a special appearance opposite Farhan. Directed by Razneesh Razy Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Amit Chandrra, 120 Bahadur hits theaters on November 21, 2025. It aims to celebrate the unbreakable resolve of India’s armed forces during one of the nation’s toughest conflicts.
