Rajeev Chandrasekhar lashes out at media over questions on Kerala BJP Councillor’s suicide

Thiruvananthapuram, India – Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar lost his cool on Sunday when reporters grilled him about the suicide of local BJP councillor Anil Kumar. The young leader from Thiruvananthapuram was found dead in controversial circumstances, sparking heated debates over political pressure and media coverage.

The tension boiled over as journalists pressed Chandrasekhar on claims that reporters faced rough treatment while trying to cover Anil’s death. Instead of answering directly, the BJP leader fired back at what he called lies from parts of the media. He accused them of protecting the ruling CPI-M party and twisting facts to smear the deceased councillor.

“Who told you that? Which channel are you from?” Chandrasekhar snapped at one reporter. “Stop spreading lies. This is pure fabrication. You work for a channel that lives off falsehoods and has no shame. How dare you attack someone who’s no longer here?”

Chandrasekhar painted a grim picture of Anil’s final days, saying the councillor endured intense threats from CPI-M leaders. He described it as a “new strategy” by the Left party to bully BJP workers into silence. “This is serious. We have proof Anil was threatened, and the full story will come out soon,” he added. “The CPI-M wants to scare our leaders quiet.”

He dismissed rumors that BJP controlled Anil’s cooperative society, calling them “totally baseless.” Chandrasekhar admitted he spoke with Anil just two days before his death, but stressed their chat never touched on money problems or society issues.

Visibly upset, the BJP chief urged the media to zero in on the real threats Anil faced, rather than chasing “fake stories.” He claimed some outlets were deliberately shielding the CPI-M by shifting blame. “Don’t downplay this – a young councillor is gone. Instead of digging for the truth, certain media houses are misleading everyone,” Chandrasekhar said.

The BJP leader made it clear his party takes Anil Kumar’s death very seriously. They plan to push hard to uncover what really happened amid the swirl of Kerala politics, CPI-M intimidation claims, and media allegations.
