Company Co-Founder Rikant Pittie invites vendors, startups with special skills, products

EaseMyTrip co-founder Rikant Pittie is gearing up for a big transformation. In a recent LinkedIn post, he announced plans to build “EaseMyTrip 2.0” as artificial intelligence (AI) shakes up the travel industry. Pittie, who also chairs the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Delhi, wants to team up with innovative minds to push the online travel platform forward.

He’s reaching out to vendors, startups, and professionals with expertise in key areas like holidays, airlines, hotels, buses, trains, cabs, and other travel-tech solutions. If you have special products or skills that can help, Pittie invites you to fill out a Google Form—he promises to review the responses personally.

Looking back, Pittie shared how the team launched EaseMyTrip 1.0 just 18 years ago. They bootstrapped it with only Rs 25 lakh of their own savings, without any outside funding. While 8-10 well-funded rivals burned through cash for over a decade and a half, EaseMyTrip stayed profitable.

But times have changed. “AI is reshaping everything,” Pittie wrote. With only a few airlines left in the market, profit margins have tightened. That’s why it’s time to adapt and reimagine the company. He admitted last year was tough for the travel sector, but EaseMyTrip has weathered storms before—surviving waves of competition and emerging stronger. “We thrived, and we will do it again,” he said. The new version will make the company sharper and more ready for the future.

Pittie has been optimistic about the travel and tourism industry lately. Earlier this month, he praised recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms that simplify the system. The changes cut the old four tax slabs down to just two: 5% and 18%. “This is a very exciting time for the travel and tourism industry,” Pittie told . He highlighted how these tweaks will make travel more affordable, spark more tourism, and create jobs—since the sector has a huge multiplier effect on employment.

Lower GST on hotels, for instance, will let owners offer cheaper stays, boost occupancy rates, and especially help mid-scale and budget properties. Overall, these reforms should drive up demand and revitalize the industry after a challenging period.
