Bhagyashree Madhavrao Jadhav is gearing up to represent India at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, and she’s hungry for a gold medal on her home turf.

“This stadium, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, is iconic for Indian athletics,” Bhagyashree said. “Competing here means everything to me. At 39, this para athlete’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. She grew up in the quiet village of Honvadaj in Nanded, Maharashtra, but a tragic accident in 2006 left her with severe neurological damage. She fought for months on a ventilator and pushed through grueling rehabilitation, with her family’s encouragement keeping her going.

Motivated by her brother and loved ones, Bhagyashree dove into para sports in 2017. Her debut at the Mayor’s Cup in Pune stunned everyone—she grabbed two gold medals and a bronze, transforming her challenges into fuel for success.

Since then, she’s built a strong international career as a shot put athlete in the F34 classification, designed for competitors with coordination impairments in their lower limbs. She snagged a silver at the 2022 Asian Para Games and proudly carried India’s flag at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. In Paris 2024, she finished fifth in the women’s shot put F34 event, showing her grit on the global stage.

Fresh off gold medals in shot put and javelin at the 2025 Khelo India Para Games, Bhagyashree is all in for the New Delhi championships—her biggest home competition yet. She trains hard every day, honing her stability, release technique, and strength to boost her performance.

From barely surviving on a ventilator to throwing with the world’s best, Bhagyashree embodies true resilience in para sports. As she steps up in front of her home fans, she’s not just chasing a medal—she’s carrying the dreams of countless admirers and aiming to ignite pride in India’s para athletics future. Each throw will spotlight her unbreakable spirit and the power of determination.
