Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 49th PRAGATI meeting in New Delhi on September 25, bringing together central and state leaders to push forward key infrastructure projects across India. PRAGATI, an innovative ICT platform, helps speed up proactive governance and ensure projects wrap up on time by tackling roadblocks head-on.
In the session at South Block, Modi reviewed eight major initiatives in sectors like mines, railways, water resources, industrial corridors, and power. These projects cover 15 states and union territories, with a total investment topping Rs 65,000 crore—making them huge boosters for India’s economic growth and everyday public services.
Modi stressed the need for strict timelines and smooth teamwork between agencies to fix any issues quickly. He pointed out that project delays hit hard twice: they drive up costs and keep people waiting for vital infrastructure and services. “Let’s focus on results,” he told officials from the center and states. “Turn these opportunities into real improvements in people’s lives, while making it easier to live and do business in India.”
The Prime Minister also called on states and union territories to set up their own regular review systems for flagship projects. This would help ensure timely progress and quick fixes for bottlenecks. He pushed for bold reforms to boost competitiveness, efficiency, and innovation in every sector, saying better preparation through these steps will let India grab new opportunities fast.
