49th PRAGATI meeting: PM Modi reviews vital infra projects worth over Rs 65,000 crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 49th PRAGATI meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday, bringing together central and state leaders to push forward key infrastructure projects across India. PRAGATI, an ICT-based platform for proactive governance and timely implementation, helps speed up major initiatives, tackle roadblocks, and deliver results on schedule.
In the session at South Block, Modi reviewed eight high-priority projects in sectors like mines, railways, water resources, industrial corridors, and power. These efforts cover 15 states and union territories nationwide, with a total investment exceeding Rs 65,000 crore. They play a big role in boosting India’s economic growth and improving daily life for citizens.
Modi stressed the need for strict timelines, better coordination between agencies, and quick fixes for any issues holding things back. He pointed out that project delays hit hard—driving up costs while leaving people without essential services and infrastructure when they need them most. “We must focus on results,” he urged officials from both central and state levels. This approach, he said, will turn opportunities into real gains, making life easier for everyday Indians and business smoother for companies.
The prime minister also called on states and union territories to set up their own regular review systems for flagship projects. He pushed for strong reforms to build competitiveness, boost efficiency, and spark innovation in various sectors. Better preparation through these steps, Modi added, will help India grab new opportunities faster.
Later that evening, PM Modi posted about the meeting on X (formerly Twitter). “Chaired the 49th PRAGATI meeting earlier this evening. Vital projects across 15 states and UTs worth over Rs 65,000 crore were reviewed. These works covered sectors like mines, railways, water resources, industrial corridors and power sectors,” he wrote.
