Actor Ali Fazal is buzzing about his new project, the upcoming web series Raakh, where he teams up with director Prosit Roy. Fazal says Roy has a special talent for building immersive worlds that draw viewers right in.
Roy, who directed Anushka Sharma’s chilling psychological horror film Pari, the upcoming Chakda Xpress, and the hit Paatal Lok Season 1, brings his signature style of deep storytelling and moody visuals to Raakh. “Prosit Roy has been on my dream list of directors for ages,” Fazal told . “His work on Pari showed how atmosphere and subtlety can take storytelling to the next level, and Paatal Lok redefined grit on screen.”
When Raakh came up with Roy leading the charge, Fazal knew it was a match made in heaven. He’s stepping into a cop role for the first time, and Roy’s guidance made it all the more thrilling. “He pulls you into this world completely while pushing you to dig deeper as an actor,” Fazal added. “Raakh brings together a killer role, a gripping story, and a director I really respect—couldn’t ask for more.”
The series gets executive production and direction from Roy, with creation, writing, and co-direction by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket.
Meanwhile, Fazal is ramping up for his return as the tough Guddu Bhaiya in the Mirzapur movie adaptation. To get in shape, he’s tapping into his family’s wrestling heritage of pehlwani and kushti. A source close to the Bollywood actor shared with : “Guddu Bhaiya is a total beast, and Ali wants to nail that authenticity, just like his ancestors did in their wrestling days.”
The source explained that Fazal grew up around the discipline and raw power of pehlwani. Instead of hitting the gym with protein shakes, he’s training like a traditional wrestler and eating like one too—sticking to family recipes packed with natural proteins, ghee, milk, and fresh produce for that genuine edge.
Fazal reflected on his routine: “I’m building a body that’s ready to fight, endure, and take charge, like Guddu would. This is how I’m bringing a bolder, fiercer version to the screen.”
