In a startling incident at Indore Airport in Madhya Pradesh, India, a rat bit a passenger right in the departure concourse on September 23. Airport officials called it an unfortunate event and jumped into action to protect travelers.

The airport management quickly addressed the rat bite issue by fining the cleaning and maintenance company, as well as the pest control firm, according to their contracts. They also removed the on-duty doctor for showing insensitivity to the injured passenger. To avoid any repeats, all staff who interact with passengers received clear instructions on keeping things safe.

“We’re fully dedicated to passenger safety, health, and comfort,” the airport stated. “We’ve put in place all needed steps to stop these kinds of rat-related problems from happening again.”

This airport mishap echoes a tragic earlier event this month at MY Hospital in Indore. On the night of September 1, rats bit two newborns in the neonatal unit. Sadly, one baby passed away the next morning on September 2, and the other followed on September 3 afternoon.

Hospital dean Arvind Ghanghoriya confirmed swift measures after the hospital rat bites. They suspended deputy superintendent Dr. Mukesh Jaiswal and three nursing officers. Show-cause notices went to superintendent Dr. Ashok Yadav, head of department Dr. Brijesh Lahoti, an assistant head, and the senior nurse overseeing the ICU.

“We’ve taken tough action here,” Ghanghoriya said. The hospital wrote to the state government to end contracts with the old pest control agencies, and that process is moving forward. They’ve already brought in a new company for regular pest control to ensure better hygiene and prevent future rat attacks in medical facilities.
