In New Delhi, India, on September 26, the Festival of Hope Foundation launched its new initiative, 1000 Lives Protected, right in Village Nathupur, Gurugram. Founded by social activist Shalini Vig, this cervical cancer vaccine awareness and vaccination drive aims to save lives by reaching young girls and women with crucial health info.
Cervical cancer claims thousands of lives every year, but experts say early detection and vaccines can stop it in its tracks—especially for those who haven’t been screened yet. The foundation, true to its roots in building courage, community service, and women’s empowerment, is leading the charge. They’re making vaccines more accessible and sharing key facts on prevention, spotting symptoms early, and fighting for women’s health rights.
Shalini Vig, the driving force behind the Festival of Hope, shared her thoughts at the launch: “The fight against cervical cancer isn’t just about treating it after the damage is done. It’s about awareness, prevention, and giving communities real power. Through 1000 Lives Protected, we want to make sure young girls and women get the vaccine and the knowledge that could save their lives.”
Since kicking off in 2011, the Festival of Hope Foundation has impacted more than 75,000 people. It mixes creativity and kindness to spotlight cancer awareness and better healthcare. The group brings together doctors, survivors, designers, artists, and activists to create a supportive space. Here, those battling cancer aren’t just seen as patients—they’re celebrated as strong leaders and beacons of hope.
Every project from the foundation turns compassion into real change, keeping the focus on prevention, protection, and spreading hope. Learn more at https://www.festivalofhope.org.in/.
