Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha gave a boost of confidence to residents on Friday, saying the state’s law and order remains firmly under control amid the excitement of Durga Puja celebrations. He believes Tripura is on track to become a shining example for other Indian states in governance and development.
Speaking to after visiting and inaugurating several Durga Puja pandals, Saha emphasized the festival’s spirit of unity in diversity. “The state government is pushing hard to develop Tripura,” he said. “Our law and order situation is strong, and we’re sending a clear message of togetherness during these festivities.”
The vibrant Durga Puja festival kicks off on September 29 and runs through October 2, with around 3,000 community pujas lighting up the state. To handle the massive crowds safely, authorities have stepped up security measures across Tripura.
At a press conference, Tripura’s Director General of Police, Anurag, outlined the robust plan. The state has deployed nearly 8,000 extra police officers and Tripura State Rifles personnel statewide. Uniformed cops and plainclothes officers will keep watch at key puja venues to stop any trouble before it starts.
Expect nonstop patrolling, food inspection teams checking stalls for safety, and wide CCTV coverage to monitor the action. In sensitive border zones, police will team up with the Border Security Force for joint patrols.
“We’ve planned everything to ensure smooth and peaceful Durga Puja celebrations,” DGP Anurag said. “From the 29th to the 2nd, join in the fun—come witness the pujas and enjoy the harmony with your family and friends.”
