In New York on September 27, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan sat down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly. The two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and the world’s push to stop the ongoing war in Gaza.
Sheikh Abdullah made it clear: the bloody conflict in Gaza needs to end right away. He called for a lasting ceasefire to save lives, ease the suffering of civilians, and resolve the humanitarian crisis there. The UAE’s top diplomat backed global efforts to free all hostages and detainees held in the conflict.
He also stressed the need for everyone to team up against extremism and terrorism everywhere, while protecting innocent civilians. With Gaza’s people facing such tough conditions, Sheikh Abdullah urged quick action to deliver aid without roadblocks—making sure food, medicine, and support reach those who need it most.
Looking ahead, he reaffirmed the UAE’s strong support for peace initiatives based on a two-state solution. This approach, he said, would meet the hopes of Palestinians, Israelis, and the whole region for real security and stability. Promoting tolerance, coexistence, and human brotherhood is key to building prosperity and sustainable growth in the Middle East, he added.
Joining the meeting were UAE Minister of State Lana Zaki Nusseibeh and UAE Ambassador to Israel Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja.
