“For BJP workers, this election is about driving out infiltrators from all of Bihar”: Amit Shah in Araria

Union Home Minister Amit Shah fired up BJP workers in Araria, Bihar, on Saturday, framing the upcoming state assembly elections as a battle to remove infiltrators from the region. With polls likely in October or November, Shah stressed that a strong win for the NDA alliance would clean up Bihar’s sacred land.

Speaking to supporters, Shah drew a sharp line between his party’s goals and those of the opposition. “For Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav, this Bihar assembly election is all about grabbing power and installing Lalu’s son, Tejashwi Yadav, as chief minister,” he said. “But for us in the BJP, it’s about driving out every single infiltrator from Bihar. Help the NDA secure a two-thirds majority, and I promise we’ll get the job done.”

Shah didn’t hold back on criticizing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress for past corruption. He accused Lalu Yadav’s team of looting Bihar through scams and frauds, while claiming Congress drained the country with corruption worth Rs 12 lakh crore during their time in power. “The Modi government has run clean for 11 years—no one can point to a single corruption charge against us,” Shah added. “We govern with full transparency.”

He also slammed Rahul Gandhi’s recent Voter Adhikar Yatra, calling it a push for voting rights for infiltrators. “Rahul Baba and Lalu’s group want infiltrators to vote in Bihar,” Shah said. “The Election Commission is rightly removing fake names from voter lists, but they oppose that. No way—we won’t let infiltrators vote. Our BJP resolve is clear: we’ll throw them out one by one, no matter where they hide.”

Turning to development, Shah highlighted how the Modi government has boosted Bihar far more than the previous Congress-led UPA regime. “In 10 years under Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, Bihar got just Rs 2.8 lakh crore,” he noted. “But from 2014 to 2025, Narendra Modi delivered Rs 16 lakh crore, plus dozens of new roads, better irrigation, the revival of Barauni industries, and the Kosi link project. That’s real progress for Bihar.”

These elections pit the ruling NDA—made up of BJP, JD(U), and allies like LJP—against the opposition INDIA bloc, including RJD, Congress, and left parties. The NDA currently holds 131 seats in the 243-member Bihar assembly, with BJP at 80, JD(U) at 45, and others adding support. The INDIA bloc has 111 seats, led by RJD’s 77.

Shah’s visit aims to rally BJP workers and strengthen the NDA’s push to keep Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in power amid the high-stakes Bihar assembly elections race.
