Multiple Robberies Shake Jamshedpur: Citizens on Edge
Jamshedpur, September 4 — The city of Jamshedpur is currently facing a wave of bold robberies that have alarmed residents and business owners alike. Over the past two days, the industrial hub has seen two major crime incidents in busy marketplaces.
On Thursday afternoon, a businessman was targeted near the Bistupur Gurudwara area. Thieves stole Rs 30 lakh in cash just as he was about to deposit it in the bank. Police say Saket Agrawal was riding his scooter when two men suddenly stopped him. They threw red chilli powder into his eyes to blind him and snatched his bag full of money. Despite being temporarily unable to see, Agrawal chased the robbers. The suspects fired shots into the air before fleeing in an SUV. Fortunately, Agrawal was not hurt.
Police quickly reached the scene and started a search for the suspects, examining CCTV footage from the area. The spot where the crime happened is also close to local MP Bidyut Baran Mahato’s residence, adding to the concern.
This daylight robbery in a crowded part of the city has caused panic among residents and shopkeepers. Many traders gathered at the scene, voicing their worries about rising crime and poor law enforcement.
The very next day, another shocking incident occurred in the Sonari area. Six armed men raided Vardhman Jewellers, posing as customers. They took the shop owner, Pankaj Jain, hostage and looted jewelry worth lakhs. When Jain tried to resist, he was hit on the head with a pistol and left injured. The robbers fired three rounds before escaping.
These back-to-back robberies in busy markets and shopping areas have raised serious questions about law and order in Jamshedpur. Police are investigating both cases closely, but residents remain tense and demanding strict action to catch the criminals and restore safety.
The city’s confidence is shaken, and many are calling for urgent steps to ensure such incidents don’t keep happening. As police work to crack the cases, the people of Jamshedpur hope for quick justice and better security measures.
