In North Tripura, India, the Assam Rifles stepped up for local communities by hosting a free medical camp on Saturday. This outreach targeted BRU migrants at Hamsapara in the Damcherra area, focusing on essential healthcare for those who need it most.
The event drew 481 people, from kids and women to seniors, who got free check-ups, doctor consultations, and medications. Organizers put extra emphasis on maternal and child health, vaccination tips, and ways to fight off seasonal illnesses like common colds or fevers.
Assam Rifles officials highlighted how this camp shows their ongoing support for underserved groups in remote spots. By tackling key health issues head-on, they’re helping boost daily life and well-being for folks in these areas.
Shifting gears to road safety, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha paused his convoy earlier that day after spotting a crash. He was heading to Kamalghat to kick off a Durga Puja pandal when an auto-rickshaw slammed into a bike.
Thankfully, the bike rider only suffered minor injuries and got away without serious harm, according to the Chief Minister’s office. Saha’s quick stop underscores his hands-on approach to public safety.
On the security front, Tripura’s top cop, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, outlined robust plans to keep Durga Puja celebrations safe across the state. With around 3,000 pujas happening this year, police are ramping up with about 8,000 extra officers from the force and Tripura State Rifles (TSR).
Dhankar told reporters that teams will include plainclothes officers, mobile patrols, fixed checkpoints, foot patrols, and even CCTV monitoring. They’ve teamed up with the Border Security Force (BSF) for joint operations in border zones to cover all bases. “Our arrangements will be foolproof,” he assured, aiming to let everyone enjoy the festivities worry-free.
