CM Yogi vows to end ‘Love Jehad’, give Bareilly-style thrashing to trouble-makers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promised on Sunday to wipe out “Love Jehad” and warned criminals and troublemakers that they’ll face beatings just like those in the recent Bareilly clashes.

During an event in Balrampur, where he laid foundation stones and inaugurated 124 development projects, Adityanath urged everyone to stay vigilant against anti-national threats. “We must watch out for activities like Love Jehad, illegal conversions, and cow smuggling,” he said.

He encouraged residents to report any suspicious behavior to the police or local authorities right away. “We’ll handle it personally,” Adityanath added, stressing that the state won’t tolerate it.

Adityanath also fired a strong warning at anti-social elements who target women, businessmen, or religious processions. “If you try any mischief, you’ll get thrashed like the law-breakers in Bareilly,” he declared.

This tough talk came days after violence erupted in Bareilly over the “I love Muhammad” campaign. Authorities detained more than 40 people and arrested prominent cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan, head of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council, for inciting the protests on Friday.

Adityanath condemned those who tricked young kids—meant to focus on math and science—into joining the rallies with posters. “The plotters behind this are finished, but they’re destroying innocent kids’ futures too,” he said, pointing to the Bareilly unrest.

A video of his Balrampur speech quickly spread on social media, posted on Adityanath’s accounts and shared by BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya.

The chief minister drew parallels to past cases, like the downfall of Chhangur Baba, and reminded everyone of Balrampur’s Maulana now in custody for alleged illegal conversions and money laundering. “Break the law or push anti-national ideas like ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind,’ and you’re heading straight to ruin,” he cautioned.

On a positive note, Adityanath highlighted the new projects, including a university building and a medical college named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, aimed at boosting education and healthcare in Uttar Pradesh.
