Bihar: Passengers happy with Amrit Bharat trains launch ahead of Dussehra

People in Bihar are buzzing with excitement over the launch of new Amrit Bharat trains right during Navratri. These affordable trains promise to make travel smoother for folks who used to struggle with tough commutes between cities. Coming just before Dussehra, it’s like a festive surprise for the state.
Passengers boarding the trains rave about the onboard comforts. One traveler, Ravindra Kumar, shared with , “It’s great that we got this train during Navratri. People will benefit a lot. Bihar is developing quickly.” Ram Naresh Rai added, “I feel really good sitting in this train. It’s comfortable, and the facilities are excellent.” Vinod Kumar, heading to Patna, said, “Earlier, travel was difficult, but I believe things will improve now. This is a great initiative.” And Alok Kumar, on his way to Pataliputra, chimed in, “It’s truly amazing. The facilities are very good.”
For added safety, railways added CCTV cameras and a special squad to keep an eye on things. A railway scout explained, “On the occasion of Navratri, a few new trains were inaugurated. Amrit Bharat trains are known for low fares and better facilities. Currently, there are 12 such trains, and the number will soon increase to 15.”
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw kicked off seven new train services from Bihar, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains designed for budget-friendly long-distance trips aimed at lower- and middle-income travelers. He flagged them off virtually from New Delhi, while Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary handled the symbolic launch at Patna Junction.
The new Amrit Bharat routes connect Darbhanga to Madar (Ajmer), Muzaffarpur to Charlapalli (Hyderabad), and Chhapra to Anand Vihar (Delhi). On top of that, four shorter passenger trains now run inside Bihar: Jhajha to Danapur, Patna to Buxar, Nawada to Patna, and Patna to Islampur.
Vaishnaw highlighted how these trains will ease travel for Bihari migrants and daily commuters. On the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the partnership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, we are launching seven new trains that will connect various cities and offer lower fares for the middle and lower-income groups,” he said. He also praised Nitish Kumar’s earlier work as Railway Minister, noting how Indian Railways hit new highs under him, faced a slowdown from 2004 to 2014, and roared back to life under Modi.
These Amrit Bharat trains serve as a cheaper option compared to the high-speed Vande Bharat, helping the government modernize Indian Railways while keeping costs low for millions.
Choudhary thanked the central government for boosting Bihar’s growth. “I am thankful to PM Narendra Modi, CM Nitish Kumar, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for transforming Bihar in sectors including rail and road infrastructure,” he said.
With these launches, travel in Bihar looks set to get a lot easier and more accessible.
