France welcomes Gaza peace proposition

France has given a warm welcome to U.S. President Donald Trump’s new plan to end the ongoing war in Gaza. This comes right after intense diplomatic talks between France and Saudi Arabia at the United Nations General Assembly.

The French government says Trump’s proposal lines up perfectly with the New York Declaration they pushed forward on September 12 alongside Saudi Arabia. That declaration focuses on tackling the Gaza crisis head-on.

President Emmanuel Macron shared his thoughts on Twitter, praising Trump’s push for peace. “I welcome President @realDonaldTrump’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of all hostages,” Macron wrote on September 29, 2025. He added that he expects Israel to jump in fully and that Hamas must immediately free all hostages and accept the plan.

Key parts of the plan include a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the full release of hostages, and a big increase in humanitarian aid flowing in under UN oversight. It also firmly rejects any annexation of land or forced movement of people.

Other big steps? Disarming and sidelining Hamas, setting up new governance to rebuild Gaza, bringing back the Palestinian Authority to the area, and launching an international mission to keep security for both Israelis and Palestinians. France even led a key meeting in New York to prepare for that mission.

The plan also calls for restarting talks to create a Palestinian state that can live peacefully and securely next to Israel. France is urging everyone involved in the Gaza conflict—Israel, Hamas, and others—to grab this opportunity now. They say it’s time to stop the fighting, build lasting peace, and ensure Palestinians get self-determination while Israelis enjoy real security and stronger ties in the region.

This could be a turning point, France notes. It might help Israel win back support from allies like France and let Palestinians break free from violence and terror toward a brighter future.

France is all in, ready to team up with the U.S., Israel’s government, the Palestinian Authority, and global partners from those New York talks to make this Gaza peace plan a reality.
