Things are heating up in Bihar politics. Just a day after Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj party, hit out with serious murder and corruption allegations against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Rural Development Minister Ashok Choudhary, Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan stepped in. He urged the accused leaders to respond directly to these claims.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Chirag Paswan said Prashant Kishor is throwing out a string of accusations against NDA leaders in Bihar. “Whether he has solid proof or just making claims, that’s something for investigators to figure out,” Chirag added. He even drew a comparison to Delhi’s political scene, pointing out how the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made huge allegations before gaining power but didn’t follow through on them later.
Chirag stressed that he can’t say if Kishor’s words are based on facts. “The people facing these allegations should reply themselves. Some have already filed defamation cases against him,” he noted.
Let’s rewind to Monday, when Prashant Kishor launched his sharp attack. He directly linked Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary to the chilling 1995 Tarapur massacre, where seven members of the Kushwaha community lost their lives. Kishor demanded Samrat’s immediate dismissal and arrest over the case.
Kishor claimed Samrat Choudhary faked his age in official records to dodge conviction back then. He waved documents from case number 44/1995, naming the accused as Rakesh Kumar, also known as Samrat Chandra Maurya or Samrat Choudhary, son of Shakuni Choudhary. Those papers listed his birthdate as May 1, 1981—making him just 14 at the time, so the court treated him as a minor and let him out of jail.
But fast-forward to 2020: In an affidavit to the Election Commission, Samrat declared his age as 51 that year. That math, Kishor argued, puts him at 26 in 1995—not a minor at all. He also tied Samrat’s name to the infamous Shilpi-Gautam rape and murder case, which the CBI probed years ago.
Kishor didn’t stop there. He accused Minister Ashok Choudhary of massive corruption, pointing to shady multi-crore contracts in the Rural Development Department.
Both Samrat Choudhary and Ashok Choudhary have firmly denied all these Bihar political allegations. The row continues to stir debate among NDA leaders and opposition voices alike.
