A heartbreaking road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district claimed six lives from a Haryana family on Wednesday morning. The crash happened along the Panipat-Khatima highway in the Titawi police station area, turning a simple trip into tragedy.
The family, from Faridpur village in Karnal, Haryana, traveled in a car toward Haridwar to immerse a relative’s ashes. Their vehicle slammed into the back of a parked truck near Jagdev Hotel on the Shamli Highway. Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage from a nearby hotel showed the car speeding before the deadly impact.
Six people died at the scene: three women named Mohani, Anju, and Vimmi, and three men, Piyush, Rajendra, and Shiva. One survivor, a young man named Hardik, suffered serious injuries. Police rushed him to a hospital for urgent care, while they took the bodies for post-mortem exams.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath quickly responded from Lucknow. He offered his deepest condolences to the grieving families and ordered district officials to make sure Hardik gets top-notch medical treatment. The CM also wished for his fast recovery.
Local police officer CO Fugana Rupali Rao shared more details: “This morning, a car with six passengers from Haryana crashed into a stationary truck while heading to Haridwar for an ashes immersion. Sadly, six died on the spot—three women and three men. We’ve sent the bodies for post-mortem with full respect and formed a team to investigate, including tracking down the driver. Legal steps are underway.”
Road accidents like this one in Muzaffarnagar highlight the dangers of highways in India, especially during family travels. Authorities continue to probe the cause, with the focus on ensuring justice and support for those affected.
