Thirumavalavan has lost confidence in DMK, govt in confusion: Tamilisai Soundararajan

In Chennai, BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan took sharp aim at VCK chief Thirumavalavan on Wednesday, claiming he’s lost all faith in the DMK and is starting to panic over the party’s direction. Speaking at a press meet in Jafferkhanpet, Tamil Nadu, she pointed out how Thirumavalavan has urged against any moves just to counter the BJP. “He’s even pushing for the Congress to set up its own committee because there’s zero trust left in the DMK,” Tamilisai said, highlighting the growing rifts in Tamil Nadu politics.

She didn’t hold back on the state government either, calling it a total mess. “They’re in complete confusion,” she added. Tamilisai criticized how officials with no real ties to issues are jumping in to explain things before any official inquiry report even drops, exposing what she sees as a chaotic mindset under Chief Minister MK Stalin’s watch.

Tamilisai zeroed in on Stalin’s past promises about free speech. “When he was in opposition, Stalin championed freedom of expression,” she noted. “But now, under his rule, folks get arrested just for sharing their views. Meanwhile, DMK members speak out freely and face no heat—what’s with this double standard?” She also slammed recent claims of knives showing up at political meetings as “pure false propaganda” aimed at stirring trouble.

Turning to the tragic Karur stampede that shook India last Sunday, where at least 41 people died during a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally, Tamilisai demanded a serious investigation. “We need a probe led by a Supreme Court judge or even a CBI inquiry to get to the bottom of it,” she insisted. Leaders from across parties, including BJP MP Hema Malini and Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, have reached out to the victims’ families in the aftermath.

Tamilisai herself visited the injured and grieving families after the incident, offering her heartfelt condolences and promising support. “Let’s hold off for the inquiry results,” she told . “Right now, we’re standing with the people—focusing on recovery and sense over sensationalism. The injured need to heal first, and then we’ll push forward.”
