Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami kicked off several urban development projects on Tuesday by laying foundation stones and inaugurating new schemes. During the event in Dehradun, he spotlighted the state’s big push to grow tourism and support local products, aiming to lift the economy in exciting ways.

“Our government is rolling out key initiatives to boost tourism and strengthen the local economy,” Dhami said. He praised the One District Two Products program, which spotlights unique items from each district. The House of Himalaya brand has taken these products to the next level, making them shine on a bigger stage.

Dhami shared some great news: Products crafted by women in Uttarakhand, sold through House of Himalaya, are gaining fans worldwide. Demand is surging, and the state plans to open more stores across India to reach even more customers.

Earlier in the day, from his residence, Dhami virtually launched helicopter services under the UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme. These new routes connect Pithoragarh to Munsyari and back, plus Haldwani to Almora and back—making travel faster and easier for folks in remote parts of Uttarakhand.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, these flights will transform transportation for people in hard-to-reach areas. Dhami called out Almora and Munsyari as ancient gems packed with history, culture, stunning natural beauty, and iconic temples. They draw visitors from all over India and beyond, and now helicopter services make getting there a breeze.

Travel between Haldwani and Almora, which used to take 3-4 hours by road, now shrinks to just minutes. Experts say this will supercharge Uttarakhand tourism and speed up economic growth in these regions.

The helicopter network already links popular spots like Gauchar, Joshiada, Haldwani, Munsyari, Mussoorie, Pithoragarh, Pantnagar, Champawat, Bageshwar, Nainital, and Almora. Dhami promised more essential locations will join soon, expanding access across the state.

On top of that, Uttarakhand is eyeing global appeal by ramping up international flights. Teams are upgrading Jolly Grant and Pantnagar airports to handle overseas traffic, positioning the state as a top international destination.

These Pithoragarh-Munsyari and Haldwani-Almora routes run twice a day, every day of the week. Flights from Pithoragarh to Munsyari depart at 10:30 a.m. and 1:50 p.m., with returns from Munsyari at 10:50 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. It’s a game-changer for Uttarakhand’s remote communities and booming tourism scene.
