Farmers across India are cheering the Narendra Modi government’s latest move to raise the minimum support price (MSP) for key rabi crops like wheat and mustard. Many see it as a timely Navratri boost that puts more money in their pockets.
In Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, farmer Jasvir Singh called the hike a smart step forward. “Any bump in MSP helps us out big time,” he told . He pointed out that the government upped prices last year too and hopes it keeps going. “Better crop prices mean a happier family at home,” Singh added.
Fellow Shamli farmer Anurag Pawar echoed the thanks, noting the consistent support since the Modi government took office. “They’ve raised MSP for both kharif and rabi crops every year,” Pawar said. He highlighted the wheat increase—Rs 85 last year and now Rs 150 this time around.
Over in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, locals are praising the decision as proof of the government’s focus on farmers. Bhawani Shankar Sharma said it’s all about supporting those who feed the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done so much for us, from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to the PM Fasal Bima Yojana crop insurance,” Sharma shared.
Narmada Shankar Bhargava agreed, calling it the best kind of annual gift. “I love how the Modi government is pushing to double farmers’ income—it’s making a real difference,” he said.
In Basti district, Uttar Pradesh, the mood is upbeat too. Mangala Prasad Maurya said the MSP hike fires up farmers to work harder and boost production. “It motivates us to stick with farming,” he explained.
Rammurat Chaudhary gave a nod to the effort but added a wish: “It’s great, but farmers should get a say in setting these prices.” Umesh Yadav welcomed the change yet stressed fairness. “We need hikes that cover our real costs, or it’s not enough,” he noted.
Overall, this MSP boost for rabi crops is lifting spirits and highlighting ongoing efforts to secure farmers’ livelihoods in India.
