PKL 12: It makes kabaddi more exciting, says Fazel Atrachali after historic Golden Raid

In a historic moment for the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), fans witnessed the league’s very first Golden Raid during a dramatic tie-breaker match in Visakhapatnam. The match took place at Vishwanadh Sports Club on Thursday evening, and Dabang Delhi K.C. made history by becoming the first team to win through a Golden Raid. Ashu Malik played a hero’s role, scoring a Super 10 and helping his team secure a thrilling victory.

The game ended in a 28-28 tie, leading to the exciting tie-breaker round. Both teams fought hard, and the score was deadlocked at 5-5 before Ashu Malik stepped up with a game-winning raid. His performance turned the game in Dabang Delhi’s favor and made history in PKL.

Ashu Malik told reporters, “It was a tough match from start to finish. Their defense was very strong. They had a small lead at one point, but both teams kept fighting. We didn’t expect the match to go into a Golden Raid, but luck was on our side, and we won the toss.”

His teammate, Fazel Atrachali, also played a key role, earning a High Five in the match. Praising Ashu Malik, the Iranian defender said, “At 5-5, I wasn’t worried. I knew we could win because we have many talented players like Ashu, who can change the game.”

Fazel also shared his thoughts on the new tie-breaker rule, highlighting how it has made the sport more exciting for fans. “Now, Kabaddi is more thrilling because every second counts. It’s like basketball or volleyball, where each play matters. Fans love it, and we’re enjoying these tense moments too,” he said.

Despite the tough defeat, Puneri Paltan captain Aslam Inamdar praised his team’s effort. He admitted, “My heart was beating fast during the coin toss. We hoped we could win, but it didn’t work out this time. That’s part of the game—winning and losing teach us to improve and move forward.”

Puneri Paltan’s head coach, Ajay Thakur, also shared his thoughts on the exciting new rule. He said, “The tie-breaker makes matches more fun for fans. They want to see results, even if their team loses. This rule adds more thrill and satisfaction for the audience. Despite our loss, this match will be remembered for a long time.”

This game’s historic Golden Raid and the new tie-breaker rule have definitely added a new edge to the Pro Kabaddi League, making it more exciting and engaging for fans everywhere.
