Fans are buzzing with excitement over the first look of “Mookuthi Amman 2,” the upcoming devotional thriller directed by Sundar C and starring Nayanthara as the fierce Goddess Mookuthi Amman. The production team at Vels Film International dropped the poster on Thursday, timing it perfectly with the auspicious Vijayadasami festival.
In the striking image, Nayanthara sits gracefully on the temple steps leading to the sanctum, embodying the divine power of the goddess. The post on X read: “Let her Divine Grace Prevail. A #SundarC Visual Spectacle. Here’s the First Appearance of #MookuthiAmman2.” This sequel has sparked massive hype since its announcement, building on the success of the original “Mookuthi Amman” film.
Producer Ishari K Ganesh shared some behind-the-scenes insights during the film’s official pooja launch in March. He revealed that Nayanthara fasted for nearly a month to prepare for her role—just like she did for the first movie. “She’s truly excited about this character and the story,” Ganesh said at the event.
Ganesh explained how it all started five years ago when actor R J Balaji pitched the original film. As a devotee of Goddess Mookuthi Amman—their family deity—he jumped at the chance. When casting the lead, Nayanthara was the clear choice, and she said yes right away. The movie delivered big for audiences and became a hit.
After that, Ganesh waited for more stories about the goddess but decided to take matters into his own hands. He aimed for a pan-Indian appeal with the sequel and tapped Sundar C, known as the “Franchise King,” to direct. “Why not bring back Mookuthi Amman?” he told his team.
At the pooja, Sundar C also unveiled the cast, which includes Nayanthara alongside Regina Cassandra, Kannada star Duniya Vijay, comedian Yogi Babu, Singam Puli, Gopi Amarnath, Abhinaya, Iniya, Mynaa Nandini, Swaminathan, and Ajay Ghosh. Hip Hop Tamizha will handle the music, promising an energetic soundtrack to match the film’s spiritual thriller vibe.
