In Kutch, Gujarat, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) recently hosted a vibrant Garba event themed around Operation Sindoor. This special celebration brought together employees and locals to honor the Indian Army’s successful mission from a few months back, where brave soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh took the stage to praise Operation Sindoor and connect it directly to India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat push for self-reliance. “With this commitment, India is carving out a new identity on the global stage—it’s our Prime Minister’s dream come true,” Singh said. He highlighted how strong ports and booming sea trade form a key pillar of this self-reliant future, boosting India’s economy and global presence.
Shifting gears to innovation, DPA earlier partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT BHU Varanasi), for a dynamic one-day workshop on “Hydrogen: Next Generation Fuel – Pathway & Challenges.” Held at the DPA Centre of Excellence in Gandhidham, the event drew officials from major Indian ports, industry leaders, and top experts to explore hydrogen’s game-changing role in the maritime world.
This collaboration underscores the growing power of partnerships between ports, academia, and industry in driving a greener maritime sector for India. Discussions zeroed in on hydrogen as a clean fuel option, paving the way for sustainable shipping and reduced emissions. These efforts align perfectly with India’s Net Zero 2050 goals and bold decarbonization plans for ports and sea trade.
As DPA shared on X (formerly Twitter), the workshop sparked lively talks on how hydrogen can fuel India’s green maritime future, with attendees from across the sector joining forces for real progress. Events like these show DPA’s commitment to blending cultural pride with cutting-edge sustainability in Gujarat’s key port hub.
