In Balochistan, Pakistan, security forces have killed seven Baloch civilians in what rights groups call extrajudicial executions. This comes as enforced disappearances and torture spike across the province, fueling ongoing fears of persecution against the Baloch people.
The Baloch National Movement’s human rights arm, Paank, reported the grim details on Thursday. On Wednesday, searchers found three bullet-riddled bodies near the Sorap dam in Buleda, Kech district. The victims were Quddous Baloch, Neik Saal Baloch, and Nizar Arz Muhammad—all drivers involved in cross-border trade.
Paank says Pakistani security forces grabbed Quddous and Neik, both from the Gardank area in Kech, on September 30 from Minaz city in Buleda. They also took Nizar, from Jaien in Paroom, Panjgur district, from the same spot.
In another case, Paank identified 16-year-old Faraz Rasheed as a victim of an extrajudicial killing on September 19 in Kech. Faraz, from Riaz Mohallah in Sangani Sar, Turbat, left school after sixth grade to work as a mechanic in his dad’s garage. Security forces took him from his home in December 2023. Authorities found his body alongside three others: Tariq Hamza, Abdul Sattar, and Zaheer Baloch, all from Kech district.
Paank also slammed the killing of young Hashim Abdul Qadir. On September 15, army-backed death squads shot the innocent child in Buleda Minaz market in Kech. He fought for his life but died despite rushed medical care in Karachi.
“This brutal shooting shows the state terrorism and genocide campaign by Pakistani forces against Baloch people,” Paank said. “They target even helpless kids to spread fear and break our spirit.” Human rights advocates warn these incidents highlight a pattern of abuses in Balochistan, calling for international attention to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
