The Sharma family in Amritsar, Punjab, has had an unforgettable week filled with celebrations. Just days after young cricketer Abhishek Sharma helped Team India win the Asia Cup 2025 title, his sister Komal Sharma got married to businessman Lovish Oberoi in a beautiful traditional Sikh ceremony at a local Gurudwara on Friday, October 3.
Komal beamed with joy as she spoke to the media after the wedding. “It feels amazing,” she said. “This is such a great day for me. I’m tying the knot today, and I’m very happy and excited. I just wish my brother was here—I miss him so much.”
Abhishek, the 25-year-old left-handed batsman, couldn’t join the big day because he’s busy playing for India A in an unofficial One-Day series against Australia A in Kanpur. But he made sure to soak up the family fun earlier in the week at the Haldi and Mehndi ceremonies. Fans loved seeing him dance with relatives and friends, and videos of him grooving alongside cricket legend Yuvraj Singh quickly went viral online, showing off Abhishek’s fun side away from the field.
While the family marks this special milestone, Abhishek keeps shining in cricket. Last week, he earned Player of the Tournament honors at the Asia Cup 2025, smashing 314 runs at an average of 44.85—even though he only made his international debut last year. He’s also climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings, breaking a nearly five-year-old record for the highest-ever rating and solidifying his spot as one of India’s rising stars.
