Over 18 lakh health camps screened 10 crore citizens under Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan: Govt

India’s massive health drive, Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, wrapped up with impressive results. The government announced on Friday that teams set up more than 18 lakh health camps nationwide, screening a whopping 10 crore people for non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the initiative on his birthday, September 17, and it ran until Thursday. This effort reached over 6.5 crore women, along with children and families, delivering key health services. It stands as the biggest health outreach ever for women and kids in India.

Health officials shared standout numbers. Around 1.78 crore people got checked for hypertension, while 1.72 crore were screened for diabetes. For women, the focus was sharp: more than 37 lakh underwent breast cancer screenings, over 19 lakh for cervical cancer, and 96 lakh for oral cancer.

The camps didn’t stop there. They conducted over 62.60 lakh antenatal check-ups for pregnant women, and vaccinated 1.43 crore children with life-saving shots. Plus, 1.51 crore women and girls got tested for anaemia, 85 lakh for tuberculosis (TB), and 10.23 lakh for sickle cell disease.

People stepped up in other ways too—more than 4.30 lakh signed up as blood donors, and teams issued 10.69 lakh Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY health cards to help with medical coverage.

This national push involved a wide network, from National Health Mission (NHM) camps to top spots like AIIMS, Institutes of National Importance (INIs), tertiary hospitals, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, medical colleges, and even private groups. They ran thousands of specialty camps offering advanced tests, diagnostics, counseling, and treatments, all in partnership with state governments and local health workers.

Beyond the screenings, the campaign got communities excited about healthier lives. It pushed for obesity prevention, better nutrition, and more voluntary blood donations to build long-term wellness across India.
