Mumbai – Amitabh Bachchan is back on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), the famous quiz‑reality show. In the new episode, the Bollywood legend will re‑create the iconic moments from his 1973 blockbuster Zanjeer with legendary screenwriter Javed Akhtar.
The promo, posted on Sony Entertainment Network’s Instagram, shows the veteran writer and his son Farhan Akhtar sitting on the hotseat. Amitabh repeatedly chants the classic line, “Jab tak baithne ko na kaha jaaye sharafat se khade raho; yeh police station hai; tumhare baap ka ghar nahi.” It’s a throwback to the movie that made him a superstar.
The video urges viewers to watch every Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and the streaming app Sony LIV.
A quick look at Zanjeer
Zanjeer was directed by Prakash Mehra and written by the famous duo Salim–Javed. The film stars Jaya Bhaduri, Pran, Ajit Khan and Bindu, and follows Inspector Vijay who is suspended and goes on a mission of revenge after his parents are killed. The film launched many future collaborations for Bachchan, leading to hits like Deewaar and Sholay.
The film was remade in 2013 as Thaf (Hindi) / Thoofan (Telugu) starring Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
Bachchan’s Dussehra message
On October 2, the star also posted a heartfelt message on his blog, weaving ancient wisdom with the spirit of the festival of Dussehra. He reminded fans that the victory of good over evil must be celebrated, but also urges vigilance. He quoted Chanakya’s advice on wisdom, caution, and trust, and ended by wishing everyone a Happy Dussehra.
Why it matters
With KBC already a cultural staple, Bachchan’s return connects the show’s quiz format with his legendary film legacy. Viewers can enjoy familiar lines, new twists, and a look back at one of Bollywood’s biggest box‑office successes—all at 9 pm on TV and online.
