Indian parliamentary delegation to attend 80th UN General Assembly Session

New Delhi – An unofficial group of Indian parliamentarians will travel to New York for the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), according to Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai. The delegation is made up of members from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and includes lawmakers from almost every major party in India.
The trip is split into two waves. The first 15‑person team will be in New York from November 14 to 18, and a second group of 15 will arrive from November 27 to 30. Both groups come from a mix of parties, showing the country’s diverse political voice on the world stage.
“India’s different political factions will represent us,” said Rai. “We’ll use the UNGA platform to raise national and international issues.” The delegation’s agenda reflects the UN’s theme, “Better Together,” which emphasises peace, development and human rights.
Key members of the first wave include BJP lawmakers PP Chaudhary, Anil Baluni, Captain Brijesh Chowta and others, along with Congress MPs, a TDP representative, and a Revolutionary Socialist Party member. The second wave features BJP MPs D Purandeswari, Vishnu Datt Sharma, Bhola Singh, and others from TMC, DMK, YSRCP, SKM, UPPL, AAP, BJD, RJD and more.
Rai said he was nominated by his party and given “a big platform” to speak on pressing issues. “Our nation is supreme,” he noted. Rai, who has previously joined a Samajwadi Party delegation after the Operation Sindoor, echoed his party’s stance on national security, recalling past support for actions like India’s surgical strike.
The 80th UNGA session aims to promote global cooperation, peace, and sustainable development, aligning with the theme “Better Together 80 years and more for peace, development, and human rights.” The Indian delegation’s presence highlights the country’s commitment to play an active role in U.N. dialogues and global decision‑making.
