The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in India has reacted on its own after a news story claimed that a faith healer in Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh, scorched three children who were suffering from pneumonia with a hot iron rod.

Doctors treating the children say one of them is in a very serious condition. They confirm the kids had pneumonia and show burn marks from the heater.

“This situation raises serious human‑rights concerns,” the NHRC said. It has sent notices to the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police in Jhabua, demanding a detailed report within two weeks.

The parents reportedly took the children to the faith healer on September 25, according to the report. The NHRC wants a swift and transparent investigation into what happened.
