Delhi Police nab 10 transgender Bangladeshi illegal immigrants

Delhi police arrested ten Bangladeshi transgender nationals who had been living illegally in the city. The arrests came from three separate raids carried out by the Foreigner Cell of the North‑West District Police.
Eight suspects were taken to Shalimar Bagh Police Station, while the other two were booked at Mahendra Park Police Station.
During the raids officers discovered the men had no valid documents and spent daytime begging in the streets. By night they moved in ways police described as “objectionable activities.”
The operation began after tips pointed to the suspects moving near Haiderpur Metro Station and New Subzi Mandi. Regular surveillance and careful mapping of those areas helped the police plan the approach.
A dedicated team, led by Inspector Chaitanya Abhijit and supervised by ACP Rajeev Kumar, took the lead on the raids. The squad included Sub‑Inspectors Sapan and Shyambir, Assistant Sub‑Inspector Rajender, several head constables, women head constables Poonam and Deepak, and other officers.
Eight men were intercepted near Haiderpur, and the remaining two near New Subzi Mandi. When questioned, the suspect claimed they were Indian, but their nervous answers and inconsistent stories raised doubts.
Investigators then verified documents and examined digital footprints. Phone photographs and Instagram posts showed the men in locations across Bangladesh. When given a chance to confirm, they admitted they were Bangladeshi and produced their national ID cards.
Police also noted that each man had undergone gender‑affirming surgery and used heavy makeup, wigs, sarees or salwar suits, and altered their voice and mannerisms to conceal their identity.
All ten men were found to have no valid visas, travel documents or permits, putting them in clear breach of the Foreigners Act 1946 and other immigration laws. The Delhi Police are tightening enforcement and remain alert to prevent further illegal immigration.
