Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. The leaders talked about deepening the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia and they also made plans for Putin’s visit to India in December.
Modi wished Putin a happy 73rd birthday and good health. In return, Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Modi on his 75th birthday, praising his role in strengthening ties between the two countries.
During the call, both sides reviewed their progress on the bilateral agenda. They reaffirmed their commitment to boost economic, defence, and technology cooperation. Modi said he is looking forward to welcoming Putin to India for the 23rd India‑Russia Annual Summit in December.
Earlier, on September 27, the two leaders also had a phone conversation. Putin praised the strong, time‑tested relationship between Moscow and New Delhi and highlighted India’s achievements in governance and economic growth under Modi’s leadership. He noted that India’s independent foreign policy and high growth rates make it one of the world’s major economies.
The conversation came after Putin arranged a December visit by his team to Delhi. The visit will be a key moment for the two countries to solidify their partnership and decide on future cooperation projects.
Both leaders expressed confidence that India‑Russia ties will continue to strengthen. They underscored that their relationship rests on a shared national consensus and mutual respect.
With the upcoming summit and the December visit, India and Russia are set to deepen economic links and cooperate on global issues, reaffirming their status as close allies.
