In New Delhi, six top military leaders gathered to honour Indian Air Force Day. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi walked into the National War Memorial to lay wreaths for the nation’s fallen.

The same leaders later joined pilots in a colourful parade at Hindon Air Base, one of India’s largest strategic airfields.

President Droupadi Murmu posted on X to wish all air warriors, veterans and families a happy Air Force Day. “The Indian Air Force shows courage, commitment and excellence,” she said. “They protect our skies and help in disasters and humanitarian missions.”

This year’s celebrations highlighted Operation Sindoor, a joint effort that forced Islamabad to retreat and obtain a ceasefire after a tense call between Indian and Pakistani military commanders.

The IAF’s static display will showcase modern and legacy aircraft. Visitors can see the Rafale, Sukhoi Su‑30MKI, MiG‑29, and the retired MiG‑21 Bison – a six‑decade‑old icon. Other highlights include India’s indigenous Netra AEW&C, Akash surface‑to‑air missile system, C‑17 Globemaster III, C‑130J Hercules and advanced Apache hit‑and‑run helicopters equipped with Longbow radar. A S‑band Rohini radar will also offer a glimpse of advanced surveillance tech.

Air Force Day parades run from Chennai in 2024 to Prayagraj in 2023; this year the parade will take place at Hindon. .
