Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the last part of Mumbai’s new Metro Line 3, the Aqua Line, on Wednesday. The final stretch runs from Atre Chowk to Cuff Parade and cost about ₹12,200 crore.

With this ceremony, Modi will unveil the whole Metro 3 project, which now totals 33.5 km, 27 stations, and costs over ₹37,270 crore. The line will help calm traffic in Mumbai and give commuters a faster, quieter ride.

The new segment links key parts of South Mumbai—Fort, Kala Ghoda, Marine Drive—and gives quick access to major hubs such as the Bombay High Court, Mantralaya, RBI, BSE, and Nariman Point. Commuters will be able to travel from Cuff Parade to Aarey JVLR in under an hour. Fares range from ₹10 to ₹70, with trains every five minutes from 5:55 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The Metro 3 line is the city’s first underground route and is expected to serve 1.3 million passengers daily. It will also cut about 261,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions a year, making travel more eco‑friendly.

During the same ceremony, Modi will launch the “Mumbai One” app, an integrated mobility platform that merges ticketing for 11 different public transport operators—Metro Lines 1, 2A, 3, 7, the monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, suburban rail, BEST buses, and local municipal services. The app promises single‑click ticketing, real‑time updates on delays and arrivals, route maps, nearby attractions, and an SOS button for safety.

By uniting metro, monorail, suburban rail, and bus networks under one app, Mumbai One aims to streamline travel, cut queues, and boost the overall commuting experience for millions of city residents.
