Another Baloch teenager killed by Pakistan-backed death squads

Several human rights groups have strongly condemned the recent killing of a Baloch teenager in Balochistan, Pakistan. The teenager, Izhar Mujeeb, was shot dead by Pakistan Army-backed death squads in the Kech district’s Mand area. His tragic death has sparked outrage across the region.

According to reports from local rights organizations, Izhar was at his shop in the morning when armed men opened fire on him. He was critically injured and rushed to the hospital, but sadly he passed away due to heavy bleeding. The incident took place amid a disturbing pattern of violence in Balochistan, where students, activists, and political opponents regularly face threats and attacks.

Baloch rights groups, such as the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), have condemned this act and called it part of a larger campaign of violence. They say that enforced disappearances, killings, and assaults are part of what they see as ongoing genocide of the Baloch people. These organizations have also urged the international community to pay attention and intervene to stop the violence.

The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department highlighted that August 2025 saw a rise in such human rights violations. Apart from Izhar’s murder, they reported that two other young men—Naeem Shay and Iqbal Hakeem—were also killed by death squads in Khuzdar. The violence also included the abduction of women and children, harassment, and even internet blackouts aimed at silencing dissent and stopping the world from knowing what’s happening in Balochistan.

Human rights groups say these incidents point to a well-organized campaign of state-sponsored terror. They demand that Pakistani authorities put an end to these operations immediately. They also call for independent investigations into Izhar’s death and other cases, and for those responsible to be held accountable.

Balochistan has long struggled for independence from Pakistan. Many local organizations report violent raids on homes, illegal arrests, enforced disappearances, and a brutal ‘kill and dump’ policy where bodies are secretly disposed of. The repression also includes restrictions like detention under emergency laws and fake police cases, all aimed at silencing the Baloch voices.

As the fight for rights and independence continues, the global community is urged to take notice of the serious human rights violations happening in Balochistan. The situation remains tense, with many calling for justice and an end to the ongoing violence against the Baloch people.
