It’s been five years since the nation last faced chaos from Antifa rioters — mobs attacking police, hurling Molotov cocktails, burning city blocks, smashing store windows, vandalizing vehicles, targeting reporters, and harming innocent citizens.
They used the tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis as justification for orchestrated violence aimed at destabilizing Donald Trump’s first administration and spreading fear among law-abiding Americans. Many people believed, mistakenly, that removing Trump would restore peace.
In some ways, they weren’t entirely wrong.
Before the 2020 election, stores on Madison Avenue were boarded up, anticipating fresh unrest if Trump won. But when Joe Biden entered the White House, the tension seemed to ease.
That peace, however, came at a price — surrendering to the left’s demands and watching the country’s stability crumble.
Biden, critics say, willingly encouraged an unprecedented influx of 10 to 20 million illegal immigrants, many allegedly involved in criminal activity.
Now that Trump has returned to power, the uneasy calm has shattered.
Antifa has reemerged with renewed aggression, this time setting its sights on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and federal agents working to reverse Biden’s border policies and deport dangerous offenders.
It’s risky work, but essential if the rule of law is to mean anything.
Democrats have positioned themselves on the wrong side of public sentiment, and this time, their usual tactics of denial and distraction may not save them.
Trump’s second term has officially labeled Antifa a terrorist group, launching a full-scale effort to dismantle it — not just by arresting its violent members, but by targeting those who finance them.
“These are agitators, anarchists, and they’re paid,” Trump said during a White House roundtable with Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem, and independent journalists who’ve been attacked while reporting on the violence.
The president hinted at a crackdown on Antifa’s financial backers — some of whom, he suggested, might be wealthy individuals he’s personally dined with.
“We are going after Antifa criminals and all who fund and support their campaigns,” he said. “They’re in serious trouble. We already have records and a lot of surprises ahead — people you’d never expect.”
Kristi Noem praised Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for his quiet investigation into Antifa’s funding networks, working alongside the FBI, Homeland Security, and intelligence agencies.
Bessent’s team declined to comment publicly, but Trump assured that revelations are coming soon. For many, uncovering who’s been financing these violent groups — often seen as the Democratic Party’s street arm — will be a welcome truth.
How else can one explain years of Democrats defending or minimizing Antifa’s actions while governors and mayors turned a blind eye?
In cities like Portland and Chicago, the anti-Trump movement has found strongholds, with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker emerging as a leading figure.
Critics call him one of the most shameless liars in politics. Along with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Pritzker has been accused of endangering ICE and Border Patrol officers by labeling them “Nazis” and denying them police support — even as gang members reportedly place bounties on federal agents.
By allowing Antifa, drug addicts, and disenfranchised radicals to operate freely, they’ve created a dangerous permissive environment while instructing local police to stand down.
In many Democrat-led cities, police departments have been effectively disempowered since the George Floyd era. Competent officers have been replaced by politically correct hires and bureaucratic placeholders.
A recent example in Portland shows just how bad things have gotten. Independent journalist Nick Sortor — one of the attendees at Trump’s Antifa roundtable — was arrested after being assaulted by an Antifa mob. Footage showed another journalist, Katie Daviscourt, struck in the face with a flagpole, yet local police ignored her attacker.
Instead, they arrested Sortor for “disorderly conduct” after he was surrounded, shoved into a ditch, and his camera was broken. Charges were later dropped when the district attorney acknowledged he acted in self-defense.
The episode exposed how closely Portland police cooperate with Antifa. Sortor’s footage even showed officers allowing militants to control traffic near an ICE facility while a restaurant owner begged police to let his customers pass.
When asked why they allowed it, a police liaison responded, “Well, it’s their event.”
“But you’re the police,” the restaurant owner protested.
“Correct,” said the officer, “but we have other tasks — we can only do so much.”
It’s scenes like these that fuel accusations that local authorities, under Democratic leadership, have surrendered to radical groups.
Trump and his team describe Antifa as a “terrorist network just as sophisticated as MS-13, ISIS, or Hezbollah,” echoing Kristi Noem’s remarks that they pose a serious threat to the nation’s safety and unity.
The message is clear: the fight has begun.
The country stands divided — and it’s time for every American to decide which side they’re on.
