In a July press meeting in Lucknow, Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri star‑turned‑politician Pawan Singh, said she wants to run for Parliament from the Karakat seat in Bihar.

She added that her husband has not visited the area since losing the 2024 Lok Sabha race, and that the 200,000 voters who supported him feel let down. “Their hopes have been betrayed,” she said, “yet I’m being blamed for politics.”

Jyoti told reporters she would refuse to contest unless Pawan accepts her marriage publicly. “If he folds the condition that I not meet his family, I’m ready for that,” she added.

Pawan Singh has been a star BJP campaigner for 15 years but has never secured a ticket for himself. Jyoti asked how she could get a ticket if he hasn’t made it to the polls yet.

The couple’s feud began after Jyoti spoke out publicly, accusing Pawan of political maneuvering. Pawan responded on social media, claiming that police presence at their home was for public order, not a call‑out. He said the couple’s disputes should stay private and that Jyoti’s actions were aimed at her own political ambitions.

The controversy ties into the upcoming Bihar elections, where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and BJP are pushing for stronger influence. The dispute has drawn attention to the personal politics inside the party and the challenges Pawan Singh faces in securing his own parliamentary ticket.
