Four people, including two children, were found dead in a $2 million San Francisco house, police said Wednesday. The bodies were discovered just before 1:30 p.m. during a welfare check on the 900 block of Monterey Blvd in the upscale Westwood Highlands neighborhood.

SFPD officers entered the single‑family home and found the victims, believed to be a family that had lived there for years, already deceased. The police team pronounced all four dead on the scene. The homeowner’s neighbors, who know the family, described them as a quiet, ordinary family with two girls—one about 12 or 13 years old. Neighbor Belinda Hanart told ABC 7 San Francisco, “There was no noise, nothing. We knew it was a family of four with two girls. It was a very normal family with a normal routine.”

Neighbors remember watching the girls play in the yard, cool‑down barbecues on summer nights, and the family keeping to themselves. “It was just like us,” Hanart added. “I’m in shock. We’re thinking about the family.”

Authorities called the deaths “suspicious” and turned the case over to the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail for investigation. Police have not ruled out a suspect, but say the incident appears to be isolated and not a threat to the public. “That is a possibility. We’re not confirming any of that at this time,” Officer Robert Rueca told ABC 7. He called the scene a “rare occurrence” in the neighborhood.

The coroner’s office is working to determine the exact cause of death but has not released details. Victim names and ages remain confidential.

The house at 1134 Monterey Blvd. was built in 1924, has three bedrooms and one bathroom, and sits on a 5,362‑square‑foot corner lot. It sold for $1.35 million in 2014 and is currently valued at about $2.1 million. Police have placed privacy tarps over the façade as investigators and emergency crews work the scene.
